Oliver Postgate
(1925 - 2008) |
Oliver Postgate |
How fondly we look back at the simple innocent Children's TV of times gone by. The high definition graphics of violent modern-day 'shoot em ups' are worlds apart from the cute woolen Clangers we watched just before our Parents sat down for the evening news.
We have Oliver Postgate to thank for many of these nostalgic programmes which to this day hold a special place for individuals of a certain age. He not only created The Clangers, but Bagpuss, Ivor The Engine, Noggin The Nog, Pogles' Wood etc etc. He created so many of these, writing stories, adding voice overs, and using the limited range of animation techniques which were available at the time. He sadly died in December 2008 at the age of 83, but I'm sure his work will live on and entertain young children for many years to come. ( why not take a look at http://www.oliverpostgate.co.uk/ )
