Lisa Dalton |
25 Year old Lisa, was yet another in a tragic long line of young people from the Bridgend County Borough who took their own lives between 2007 & 2008. Lisa was a mother of one - she had a young daughter called Gracie. She lived in a two bed semi-detached house at Sunnyside Road in Bridgend town centre where she was found hung on 10-Nov-08. Lisa had not long come out of hospital - she had battled with anorexia since she was a teenager. . . . . . . . The series of suicides in Bridgend County, South Wales :- Whilst I did not know any of the victims personally, I just wanted to say something after reading of this string of tragedies in the newspaper – so have created one of these “My-Condolence.com” pages for several of them (incidentally, I thought how the media covered this was quite disgraceful – sensationalising with talk of the suicide town and internet death cults etc ). It is probable that media coverage can trigger copycat deaths, so for example in Norway newspapers are banned from reporting suicide as a cause of death. The police have always maintained that the deaths are not linked. In addition to all of the tragic deaths which have been reported, there had also been an alarming number of friends of some victims have also attempted unsuccessfully to kill themselves. I just hope any other young people will talk to someone like the Samaritans when they feel rock bottom, virtually all adults did go through the same stresses and strains as youngsters so can really help. England and Scotland already have suicide prevention plans, drastic actions are being placed by Bridgend County in the local schools and so forth, but of course that is too late now for all these young people and the families they leave behind. …….
