Matthew Marsden

2 year old Matthew Marsden was from Cwrt Brenig, Buckley in Flintshire, North Wales. He died while on holiday with his parents and one-year-old brother Alex at Greenacres Holiday Park, Morfa Bychan, near Porthmadog in Gwynedd. After a frantic search by his parents and park staff, he was found by his father face down in 18 inches (46 cm) of pond water after having wandered away from the family's touring caravan at the 125-acre Greenacres Holiday Park in August, 2004. It appears Mathew had slipped into Monarch Way Duck Pond, which was just 60m from the family caravan. The Marsden family lodged legal action against the Park owners (Bourne Leisure Ltd) stating that more should have been done to warn of the water dangers on the site - although the claim was later overturned on appeal in the summer of 2009.
