Ryan Leigh Edwards |
20 year old Ryan Leigh Edwards, of Heol Syr William in Croeserw, in the Afan Valley of South Wales sustained fatal injuries when he was assaulted in the car park of Bridgend Railway Station at approximately 11.10pm on Friday 6-July-2007 , he died two days later in hospital on the Sunday from head and brain injuries. Ryan, a former Cymmer Comprehensive School pupil (and then Neath College
student), who had been described as a 'gentle giant' who 'would not hurt a fly' had been in a Bridgend nightclub called "Bar Inc" on Derwen Road in the town. Ryan and two friends were followed out of the nightclub by a gang of thugs - there had been an earlier incident in a nightclub when one may have been nudged while dancing. The boys were followed up to Bridgend Railway Station where they were attacked in the car park. Ryan was kicked to death and his two friends were left unconscious. . . . The three men responsible were caught. Later in Court, the jury was told how one of the thug doorman who had been involved in the beatings returned back to one of his bouncer colleagues and described how it had been 'a good fight'
