Tommy Walker was born in Cramlington, Northumberland. He was a soccer player who was a key member of the Newcastle United team which won the FA Cup for two successive years (he scored 40 goals in his 235 appearances for the club.). Following an impressive football career, which included 12 years at Newcastle, plus stints at Oldham and Chesterfield, he retired in April 1959 to become a newsagent in Middleton, Manchester. He died at a nursing home in Manchester, England following a short illness, he was 81
