Leyla Gencer

Born in Istanbul (a Muslim birth) to a Polish Mother and a Turkish father. Operatic Soprano Leyla (originally Leyla Ceyrekgil), commenced vocal training at the age of 16. Throughout a career of 72 operatic roles, she becam best known for her Verdi and Bel Canto roles. She departed from our world May 2008 at the age of 83. R.I.P. Amelia Cruz.
